Google Caffeine and Its SEO and Search Engine Ranking Impact

Google Caffeine, Google's hottest update is claiming to bring increased speed, relevancy, and real-time into search results.

Caffeine, which was announced last August and has been rolled out this month, features all behind-the-scene improvements that increase the speed that search results return.

Faster search results are one of the trademarks of Google's latest update. Google is fast already, but results are reportedly going to be cut down to half the time (think 0.16 seconds instead of 0.32 seconds).

"According to our testing and research, Google Caffeine will display more universal, or 'blended' search listings due to its greater emphasis on indexing multimedia and networking sites than on the current version of Google. This will allow users to see alternate types of results, as well as real-time results", said the head of Google.

Google engineers have hinted that all things being equal the faster downloading sites would have an advantage. Perhaps more importantly slow loading websites frustrate visitors. Generally, the frustrated visitors look elsewhere for their needs, and so they will either back click or close the search altogether and then visit your competition. If the user does not recognize the faster results, perhaps they will notice more relevant results. This is because Google Caffeine will be indexing more web catalog pages for single word or head terms than the current version of Google.

This change creates a challenge from an SEO perspective, since keyword phrases and terms will need to be closely monitored for drops in rank.

"Google Caffeine and its real-time search feature uniquely combine the science of SEO with the art of social media," said an SEO expert. Google Caffeine will be faster, more relevant, and will give searchers a variety of result types to choose from. The real hardship falls on SEO professionals who must pay extra attention on their SEO strategies in order to maintain their hard-earned rankings.
